Great result...but I like the fact that every country in the world plays soccer, so it is a kind of universal benchmark. I thought we did well against Croatia the other day, they are a powerful team. I'm still enjoying European football at Ibrox - amazing Rangers have survived round after round and I never thought we would still be a contender in at this late stage of the EUFA competition.
I'd love to see Scotland play England on the football field - why dont we have a four nations UK competition every year? |

Shame about the Manchester result - I have to admit Zenit deserved their victory. I suppose the trouble after the match rules out a four nations competition for a long time to come - it is quite impossible to stop such large numbers of fans heading south to support their team, and there will always be a bad element looking to cause trouble.
Never mind, we went to the Scottish Cup Final on Saturday, and now we have that trophy - not a bad result for the season for any club to win two major competitions (CIS Cup and Scottish Cup) and be runner up in the League and UEFA finals...
My boy is starting to ask some good questions, like "why are our guys wearing white today?" so I know he is getting hooked...
Sundays climb up Ben Lomond was another epic day, but that's two Munros (Scottish mountains over 3,000' in height) now accomplished, so in theory theres nothing holding him back - if he can pick up fitness and speed it would help though - he's still very slow... I'm still very fast on the hill, especially now I've quit smoking I can still power up and down, so I have to learn great patience...not something that comes naturally.
Still, bear in mind that large numbers of people in Scotland NEVER climb a hill and its a fine achievement.
